If this part becomes defective, symptoms such as ``unstable idling'' or ``the car feels noisy even when you step on the accelerator'' will appear.
If there is white scum on the back side of the distributor cap, as shown in the third image, on the distribution contacts for each cylinder, it is time to replace it.
*Note: Even if you scrape away the debris, the symptoms will not improve.
